American Legion Baseball

Since 1925, The American Legion has sponsored a nationwide youth baseball program. During these past eight decades, millions of young players have enjoyed playing baseball. The American Legion and their 2.8 million members have raised millions of dollars each year for players to learn the importance of teamwork, discipline, leadership and good sportsmanship. The American Legion sponsors American Legion Baseball to give players an opportunity to develop their skills, personal fitness, leadership qualities and to have fun.

Paradise Post 79 sponsored a team in the early 1970s. And again, from 1989 through 2011. This great run was possible by a TEAM effort: Post, sponsors, boosters, players, parents and coaching staff - Together Everyone Achieves More - TEAM.

In 2011 The American Legion selected Shelby, North Carolina as the permanent site for the American Legion Baseball World Series.  The 2013 World Series dates are 16 thru 20 August and in 2014 the dates are August 15 thru 20.  The eight regional champion teams are introduced and honored at the World Series Baseball Banquet which is held the evening before the start of the series.

American Legion Baseball is back:  Mark Norton, Manager/Coach - 2023

We have our team back here at our Legion Post 79. We will be playing our homes games at  Wendell Krinn Tech School (the former Ridgewood High school!)  We are recruiting players from the ages of 14-19.   We are looking for sponsors to help defray our cost.  Our 2023 sponsorship will be $550.00.  Your sponsorship will include your choice of design on a 3’X6’ banner along with either a baseball cap or “T” shirt.  You will also be included in our bi-monthly newsletter that goes out to over 800 of our Paradise Post 79 members.

Any local businesses interested in sponsoring Post 79 team for 2023, please contact us at flpost79@verizon.net

If anyone knows an Alumni who played American Legion Baseball, please let them know we are back and looking for them as well.

Paradise Post 79 is a Tax Exempt Veterans Organization, 501 (C)(19).  Your Team will be coached by military veterans who have been involved in American Legion Baseball as youths.  We want to bring that spirit and dedication back to New Port Richey and our American Legion Paradise Post 79.

Our first game will be an away game June 6.  Our first Home Game will be Saturday June 10th.  Please come and support our team.

On Sunday June 4th we will have a fundraiser breakfast from 9-11.  Please come and meet your team.
